Vladimir Zidlicky was born in 1945 in Hodonin , Czech Republic. He lives and works in Brno as a freelance photographer .
Vladimir Zidlicky was fascinated from an early age for painting , drawing and theater.
He thus began his artistic career in the 70s as a painter .
From 1971-1975 , he studied film and television photography at FAMU ( Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts ) in Prague
Soon, he established a particular style that blurred the distinction between his two passions : painting and photography.
His complex images often represent nude figures , floating like painted with light. He transforms them with surface scratches, drawings and shading. His images are so radically transformed and sublimated .
The universe of Zidlicky is at once dreamlike and erotic creating a strange and compelling mix between the celebration of the naked human form , meditations on the degradation , destruction and loss of personal identity.
Since 1980 , he exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in institutions , museums and private galleries in Europe and the United States.
His works are in many public and private collections such as the Georges Pompidou Center , the National Library and the European House of Photography in Paris , the Museum of Photography of Annvers, the Museum Ludwig in Cologne , the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston , the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco , among others…
