\u201cOver the Dunes\u201d is a mono\u00adchrome fine art pho\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adphy col\u00adlec\u00adtion by Raphael Macek, cap\u00adtur\u00ading the Arabian horse in the desert land\u00adscape of the Arabian Peninsula (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah). Shot exclu\u00adsively with Phase One IQ4 150MP medium for\u00admat sys\u00adtems, the col\u00adlec\u00adtion presents the encounter between two ancient forms, equine and geo\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal, in a body of work that dis\u00adsolves the bound\u00adary between ani\u00admal and earth.<\/p>\n

The deci\u00adsion to work in mono\u00adchrome was not a styl\u00adis\u00adtic choice. It was an act of hon\u00adesty. The desert\u2019s palette is already reduced: sand, shadow, sky. Adding colour felt like adding com\u00admen\u00adtary to a state\u00adment that was already com\u00adplete. In black and white, the horse becomes sculp\u00adture. The dunes become archi\u00adtec\u00adture. And the space between them becomes the true sub\u00adject of the work: the silence that holds every\u00adthing together.<\/p>\n

This col\u00adlec\u00adtion marks a deci\u00adsive shift in Macek\u2019s prac\u00adtice. Where his ear\u00adlier work brought the horse into the con\u00adtrolled envi\u00adron\u00adment of the stu\u00addio, \u201cOver the Dunes\u201d reverses that ges\u00adture entirely. Here, the artist fol\u00adlowed the horse into its world, into the land\u00adscape where horse and earth have been in con\u00adver\u00adsa\u00adtion for mil\u00adlen\u00adnia. No arti\u00adfi\u00adcial light\u00ading, no directed com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adtion. Only patience, pres\u00adence, and the will\u00ading\u00adness to let the desert speak.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to the Arabian Peninsula for the horses. But what I found was the land\u00adscape itself: the silence of it, the scale, the way a sin\u00adgle dune ridge held more drama than any stu\u00addio I had ever built. I put down my arti\u00adfi\u00adcial lights. I stopped com\u00adpos\u00ading. I let the desert speak.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
