“Higher Ground” by Jennifer Westjohn
It is about transcending this notion of anchoring, of weight, of heaviness that we sometimes feel in our material world, in order to turn our gaze, our soul, toward a higher, more elevated, more natural — and above all, freer — dimension of this world.
To refocus on the authentic, the original, the strength of the elements that surround us but that we no longer see, no longer feel.
To open ourselves to them, once again.
Jennifer Westjohn is a French artist who uses the media of photography to bring forth spiritual questions and dive into the sublime depth offered by our natural world in its most mystic dimension.
Self-taught, with a passion for the Elsewhere in nature as well as in people. She travels and collects incredible landscapes crystallized in the fleetingness of the moment.
Her work aims at revealing the strong vibrations of the universe and raise various subjects as shamanism, instinct and the spirit dwelling in everything. From inner to outer beauty her photographies try to explore and reach the dimensions of a higher realm of our soul.
Through the exhibition “Higher Ground” the artist presents a series of photographic works focusing on the immense beauty of our natural world. The power of its elements — fire, earth, water, wind, animals, plants— and humans as well, in the face of the ‘sacred’ imposed by nature itself.”
