David Zimmerman

David Zimmerman was born in 1955 in Milwaukee in the United States. He mainly works in Taos in New Mexico or in Jogiwara Village, in north­ern India.

Graduate of the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California, he left to live in 1982 with his wife and their new­born baby, in New York, where he became the assis­tant of great press and adver­tis­ing photographers.

In 1985, he began his free­lance career, already focus­ing on projects related to the envi­ron­ment, but nev­er­the­less worked on adver­tis­ing cam­paigns for major brands (Pepsi, Mercedes-​Benz, American Express, Unilever, etc.).

During over the past three decades, sev­eral of his series, includ­ing Desert, Last Refuge, and, more recently, One Voice, have focused on land­scapes and cul­tures threat­ened by envi­ron­men­tal, social, eco­nomic, and polit­i­cal causes. They have been exhib­ited all over the world.
