Jimmy Nelson was born in 1967 in the United Kingdom. He lives and works in the Netherlands.
Jimmy Nelson began as a photographer in 1987. After spending 10 years with the Jesuits in England, he left alone for a year to cross Tibet on foot. On his return, he published a newspaper with incredible images which earned him his first great success.
He then left to cover major international conflicts for the press and in 1994, after 40 months spent in China, he published Literary Portraits of China which was followed by a major international exhibition.
From 1997, Jimmy Nelson was then called upon by major brands to carry out their advertising campaigns.
Between 2010 and 2014, he traveled the world to meet more than thirty ethnic groups threatened with extinction. Upon his return, he will publish his famous book Before They Pass Away. Four years later, in 2018, he released his new book Homage to Humanity.
