The photo gallery and its history
THE STORY OF A. GALLERY, FROM NEW YORK TO PARIS
New York 1996 – Arnaud Adida and the revelation of photography
It has been 11 years since Arnaud Adida has been evolving in the world of photography, collaborating with press agencies such as Gamma and Corbis, as well as with emblematic magazines such as VSD or Voici. Based for six years in the United States, he discovered in 1996, at Outline in New York, a radically different approach to photography. There, photographers are considered true artists, at the crossroads of several universes: publishing, advertising, exhibitions and art galleries. In contact with major figures such as David LaChapelle or Mark Seliger, Arnaud Adida becomes aware of the artistic potential of photography. “These artists had created their own ecosystems, displaying their art in advertising, bookstores, private places and art galleries,” he says. This vision marks a decisive turning point. In April 2000, he decided to create A. Gallery, including a first tribute to Mark Seliger.
Paris 2023 — an international and daring photo gallery
More than 20 years after its creation, A. Galerie, a photography gallery in Paris, continues to defend a demanding and passionate vision of the image. Since its inception, the gallery has been able to anticipate market developments, in particular by becoming a precursor in 2010 in the exhibition of photographs called “People”. She then highlights major artists such as Albert Watson, Patrick Demarchelier, Rankin or Steve Schapiro. Over the years, A. Gallery expands its artistic field by exhibiting international photographers from various universes:
- wildlife photography with David Yarrow or Nick Brandt
- landscape with Beth Moon
- conceptual photography with Bruno Aveillan
This diversity allows the Parisian photo gallery to reach an international clientele and to establish itself as a recognized player in the contemporary photography market. Between success and risk-taking, A. Gallery maintains a strong guideline: to make artists discover and transmit a unique emotion related to photography.
A PHOTO GALLERY IN PARIS CARRIED BY PASSION
Today, A. Galerie remains true to its DNA: a photography gallery in Paris where the passion for the image guides every exhibition. Whether you are a collector, art lover or just curious, the gallery offers a unique experience, driven by the desire to share, exchange and discover. As Arnaud Adida summarizes: “The sensuality given off by photography… still gives me an intense emotion today. ”
